Me Advert - Ideas, Planning, Process, and Final Result

The major that I want to pursue is fashion design, I want to make a fashion related to my advertising assignment. Moreover, I included several ideas:
  • Run Away Fashion
  • Discount Ads
  • A Fashion Show Event
This is the examples of the ideas that I talked about.

The poster above is an advertisement for a designer who wants to show her work as a runway show. I like the picture of the poster, but I found it tedious to look at. It makes the poster seem not interesting.

The Instagram advertisement above informs that their brand is having a sale. I like the colour of the poster; even the colour palette is not many. However, I found it interesting and eye-catching. Moreover, the information the brand wants to tell people is obvious and straightforward.

The poster above tells about fashion show events, and the information about the event is excellent. Also, I like the simple colour that they used. However, the picture that they used could be more precise. I needed to look correctly to see the picture as a mannequin.

On the other hand, after I looked at some advertisement posters, I would make a simple colour palette with clear information and include no ambiguous models or images. Due to the black Friday event being in November, I want to make a promotional advertisement that informs others that our shop has a discount.

I will draw my ideas on paper first as my first draft to communicate and determine what I want to add or the layout on the advertisement poster.

I wanted to make the background or the layout like a newspaper. My idea was to make the promotion have vintage vibes. The colour palette I would use is only three colours maximum because I did not want too much colour. The orientation of the paper that I would like to use is portrait.

I began by opening the Pixlr. I clicked the Pixlr - E and 'Create New' to make a new layer.

I clicked 'print' to select my size of the paper, which is A4. I chose white colour as the background of the layer.

Then, I made the lines as the frame like the actual news paper. I used the 'shape tool' to make the lines.

I added the text using the 'text tool' to make the title.

After that, I made a logo for an online app, Canva. I used the 'text tool' to make the text and using the 'element tool' for the image. Then, I downloaded a PNG file and chose the background to be transparent.

Then, I put my logo at the top corner of the page and I added text using the 'text tool' for my tagline and details of the design to make it similar like the actual news paper.

I chose pictures for the model of my promotion on Unsplash, then I removed the backgrounds using the website called 'removebg.'

After removing the background to the layer in Pixlr, I put the pictures. I had the idea to make the pictures have shadows, so I copied each picture and added a filter using the 'filter tool' that the app provides to make shadows.

I downloaded the barcode image for the additional elements to make the poster looks good on internet.

I added the barcode image and put it on the bottom of the page. Then, I added the percent of the discounts using the 'text tool.'

And, the last step is I added the information about the events and our brands using the 'text tool.' Then, I saved as JPG file.

    This is the final result:

My reflection on this project is that I am thrilled with my work's result. I like how my expectation is realized. However, I was not satisfied with the poster's background because I wanted to make the background have a texture similar to the actual newspaper, but I needed help finding it on the internet, so I changed it to a different texture. Overall, I like my result for this advertisement.

  1. Very good work here - a clear journey from idea to final creation, you have good process with technical detail, and the advert works really well with a kind of vintage style look that would appeal to your target audience, good reflection and overall excellent work here.
