Fabric Dying Workshop - Tie Dye

On Wednesday, 21st of February 2024, I attended the workshop that will be useful for my final project, the fabric dying workshop. In the workshop, I only took a few pictures because I enjoyed the workshop and was too involved with making them. However, I took photos for the final outcome.

Besides, this workshop will help me experiment with the colour, and maybe this workshop I will use this for my final project to give the colour part on my corset, but I still considering it because the workshop requires me to book the other induction if I want to use the dying room by myself.

These are the results, the tie dyes with diffrent techniques.

The techniques that I used for this is the basic tie or the basic style to make tie dye; I just spiral the fabric and tie it with a rubber band, then I put it into the yellow colour.

I used the same techniques, but I do not know how the colour turned out differently. I used red and blue mixed together; I experienced it to see what colour I would get when I mixed two colours.

This is also the same, but I dipped to the red much longer than I dipped on the blue, and I did not dip all the fabric, so it left white at the top.

Here, I used techniques from Japan, called Shibori. I used two boards after I folded them into a square. I needed to make sure the boards were tight, so it left the white colour in the middle. And it worked. I mixed three primary colours, red, blue, and yellow.

Last but not least, I used pennies to make this. I mixed the colour at the edge of the fabrics with two different colours, which are blue and yellow. The pennies give the impression of the fabrics, and we can clearly see a round shape on the fabric. Additionally, using different sizes of penny will affect the size of the round on the fabric.

Overall, I like this workshop, and I recommend it. I got new knowledge to experiment with, and this workshop was enjoyable and refreshing. Experimenting with different techniques to get different outcomes for each fabric is a fantastic thing to try. If I have a chance, I will do this for my future project because I think I do not have much time for my project this time.
