Textile and Sewing Workshop

Last time, I attended a textile and sewing induction for a workshop in Vijay Patel. The workshop taught me how to use the sewing machines. There was not only one machine; there were a lot of different kinds of sewing machines and also different results for each sewing machine. This workshop will be helpful for my final project for this term because I will make a corset that needs a sewing machine to make the corset.

Firstly, I only practice how to use the machine. I practised making a straight line and how to make a rectangle using the basic sewing machine.

Here, I was challenged to sew and follow the shape that was drawn by the technician. Honestly, it was not easy; I found it hard to do it, especially to sew the circular. Also, I used the sewing machine for finalising the sewing machine, overlock machine.

Then, the technician introduced the machines that they have. First, Single Step Zigzag sewing machine. This sewing machine will give zigzag result.

After that, this is Rinoldi Seam Cover sewing machine. This giving directly two stitching and it used for give a professional impression.

This is using a Bonadex sewing machine. It gives a wrinkled look. Usually, it is used for a dress or skirt to make it easy to adjust.

Then, this is using the Main Step Zigzag sewing machine. The comparison of the zigzag using Single Step Zigzag sewing machine and Main Step Zigzag sewing machine is the Main Step Zigzag sewing machine gives larger and broader results.

The last sewing machine that I tried was Typical Walking Foot. The stitch using this machine is wider than that of the basic sewing machine.

Overall, I enjoyed this workshop, and now I understand what types of sewing machines are available. Also, I can use the sewing machine for the final project, making the corset.

  1. Good , relevant process shots. It might be useful to practice these stitches with the studio sewing machines
