Reflection - Art Portfolio 1
I began this module in January and was doing something fun; recreating a famous painting to photo with my friend. It was on the first day of starting a class after the term break. After that, in this module, I began to learn to develop ideas based on my progression route, fashion design. I needed to choose the theme I would design; I chose the pop art theme as my main focus. I started brainstorming and experimenting with different things for the project. Then, finally, I got what I wanted to create for the final project. I chose to create a corset with pastel colours and focus on shapes. I researched the artists or designers who correlated with my ideas, which were Harikrishnan, Sun Woo, and Vivienne Westwood. After that, I attended the workshop to get inducted so I could use the place where I might be using for the project. I learned new skills, such as draping, colour experimentation, sewing machine use, and many more from the workshop I attended. Until I began to create the designs and the 3D design. To design the collection, I made a lot of designs, and then I did the elimination process because not all the designs were good. Next, I created all six designs for the 'The Sweet Dream' collection; I started to create the 3D design by choosing one I might like to create. Moreover, I created the corset and skirt using a design called 'Muted whimsical.'
What I learned in this term from this module is how to develop and brainstorm ideas and plan them to make an excellent professional portfolio outcome, by experimenting and attended some workshops. I also learned to organise my time to complete all the tasks in nine weeks. Then, I learned how to use a sewing machine and measure fabrics. Moreover, I learned how to create or think of unique designs, so the design that I will make is unique.
I like this module because it helps me to hone my skills and creative thinking, especially for my progression route, so when I go to university, I will not be blind, and I know what I need to do, already prepared. However, I also faced some challenges while doing the project. I felt stuck while I created the designs; I could hardly find a design that had characteristics until I created something that depicted me and started to draw and draw without the need to worry about anything; I could manage to create designs that were good. I struggled to make the 3D design because I was not used to sewing; I used a sewing machine to create clothes before, but sometimes I forgot; with this project, I could practise using a sewing machine.
Overall, this module will help me prepare before I go to university. This module has helped me become a better person and sharpen my skills. When I am in university, I will use the skills I already used in this module and apply them again to manage all the tasks later.
Excellent and thoughtful reflection -you should be very proud of the work you have created here
