Group Work Practice - Sequence Images

On the second of October me and my friends had the first group project, which was taking pictures to make like sequence images that take reference from a popular photographer. The photographers that we took inspired are Elliott Erwitt, Eadweard Muybridge, and Sam Taylor Wood (nee Johnson).

Elliot Erwitt, famous for his black-and-white photography, took this picture. The picture is in St. James's Park, London, listed in the photo's title. This photo is one of the works he published in his brand-new book, "Found, Not Lost". Also, this picture is known to have been taken 60 years ago. The composition he used in this photograph is leading lines, which strengthened the purpose by the presence of the people walking forward and the subjects in the surroundings. The black and white has made the picture look more vintage and have meaning or mood. However, the black colour is darker on the people, making the focus point in this picture the people.

In other hand, I did my work for practice, sequence images. Sequence images are when the images have a motion. I took this picture during my class time on my first day of school with my classmate. I was using my phone, iPhone 14 Pro. I named the sequence "The Flying Football" because I took it when people were playing football in the yard in front of the Vijay Patel Building, De Montfort University.

Furthermore, I generated all of my pictures into contact sheets, which was helped by an online generator.

Subsequently, I edited it again using Pixlr. Pixlr is one of the editing apps found on the internet that helps to edit a picture/s; for your information, the app is similar to Adobe Photoshop. Then, I picked Pixlr E editor to edit my images. I chose the layer where I put the images, a black background with A4 paper on landscape orientation. The next step I did was pick the picture I chose on the online generator for the contact sheets, and I made it in the same order as in the contact sheet image above. Finally, I put text to show the title of the sequence images I took and my name to give credit that I have cropped the picture to make it neater. I exported it to a PNG file. Then, it is done.

In my reflection, as practice work, I have done well and am satisfied with the result; for instance, my subject is exciting: people were playing football. However, if I can improve it, I will change the distance from where I took the picture because the people in the photos look so tiny and almost cannot be seen. I need to zoom in to see what are the people doing. Also, I will improve the light in the picture, which will make it brighter to make the picture more interesting to look at rather than gloomy dark.
