Welcome to My Blog!!

Hello, welcome to my first blog!! I hope you thrilled with my online journal. First of all, I like to introduce myself, I am Jesslyn Ciam. I am the fashion design student to be in De Montfort University. I have interested in fashion since I was in sixth grade. Styling is the one of many things that I enjoy, I like mismatching clothes to make it look fashionable and unique, it is not only happening for myself but I also love to do that to my surroundings, especially to my sisters. However, this blog, I will provide you my researches toward fashion. I would like to invite you to explore more about the trend of fashion with me!

I want to share what interests me and give some information about it. First, I want to introduce the character name of my inspiration, Cruella. Cruella is a cartoon character from Disney that is adapted into an action live movie. The story's highlight is about competition in fashion between Cruella and her boss. Besides, I like how the costume in the film has an extraordinary style and uncommon aesthetic sense. Like in the picture above, the dress shows the person's uniqueness and depicts the character of Cruella, who is fiercely ambitious. "This whole larger-than-life look is a bit like Dior Couture by John Galliano but dialed up even further with an extreme, rebellious punk sensibility." (Laffly, 2021).

Behind making this costume, this dress is using 5.060 sewn flowers. The designer of the clothes is the Oscar winner Jenny Beavan. She picked a jacket for Emma Stone (Cruella) from a Melrose, Los Angeles vintage shop. She chose the jacket because she thought it was military style, black, with wide lapels, and tailored, and also it fitted with the black skirts. She mentioned, "The fitting, which included an entire parade of early looks, was a smash hit." (Robinson, 2021). Furthermore, the dress has stolen much attention, and it was terrific.

Emma Stone's (Cruella) dress explodes with much-unexpected amazement from others. The change from the pastel-coloured dress to the 40-foot-long train mess wearing fabric was tremendous, and it shows her personality, "Cruella emerging out of the clutter in a meticulously boned and fitted strapless bodice adorned by newspaper clippings about herself." (Laffly, 2021).
