Website Research - Sophia Tolli and Mark Zunino's Websites

    As we are creating our own website, I will study two websites and compare and contrast these. This website research will assist me in understanding how to create my own website so I will consider the overall design, colours, and typography, navigation, usability/user-friendliness, links and mobile view. 

    I found two websites of fashion designers that I will look forward to it, which is Sophia Tolli's website and Mark Zunino's website. I am going to compare between the two website, what a good thing about their website and what is not, based on personal opinion. 

    Firstly, I am looking to Tolli's website. The home page of her website is nice, obvious and explain what is she doing, which is a fashion designer that specialising in wedding and party's gowns because she is using slide photos that related to her work. The typography in the website is minimalistic and simple, so I can read easily. The color of her website is white, so the simplicity elements of this website is expressed very well. And, the navigation bar of her website is well structured and straightforward, so the viewer can be easily recognise what the each pages about.

    Also, in her home page, she puts the collection of gowns that might people like to see or a type of gowns that is trending in present day. 

    In her home page, she includes the gowns that many people loved to buy or wear for wedding and others events. In her website home page, she puts a lot of things that linked to the other page that make the viewers wants to click and dig deeper about her website.

    Then, I clicked the 'Collections' page. In this page, she puts all her gowns collection. The good thing in this page is she put the filter that make the viewer can choose easily to sort exactly what they want and search of. Also, she puts the title and description about the page. Then, she puts title for every gowns collections that she has made , so the viewer know what is the name of gown and she gives a brief information of every gown to show the focus detail of the gown. 

    After that, I look the 'Trunk Shows' age. In this page, she puts the title of the page and the description what this page for. Also, she gives options for viewer to choose for book an appointment to try their latest collection.

    'Real Brides' page, is a page to people show their wedding ceremony wearing the gown by Sophia Tolli. This page aims to give testimonials, so to tell the viewer of her shop and her works are guaranteed. 

    The next page, 'Find A Store' page, she puts the locations detail that the viewer can visit.

    And, the last page that she puts on her website is 'About Us' page. This page gives the detail information about Tolli's personal experiences and information. She introduces herself, so the viewer can know her life in short way. Also, she gives images and titles before she tells about herself.

    Then, I opened the website on my phone to see the mobile view of this website. The website is organized as well in mobile phone.

    Overall, my impression of her website is excellent. I love her website, how she gives all the detail information that make easier to the viewer to find information and her collections of the gowns.

    Now, I am looking the second website, which is Zunino's website.

    This is the 'Home Page' of his website. He is using image that depict what he is and what he likes to show to the viewers. The typography that he is using is clear, but the name and the other elements not consistent, there is difference. The colour of his website is simple and dark because he uses black as the main colour. And, the navigation bar on the website is straightforward and clear, so the viewer can easily know what the pages will show about.

    Also, on the home page, he puts buttons to link to the other pages, so the viewer can click the button and explore it easily.

    For the 'Collection' page, in the navigation bar he gives choice for the viewer to choose his collection 1-4. So, he organised the collection based on runway that he held. 

    This the example on the 'Collection I' page. This page shows the collection of his works when he held runway.

    In the 'Accessories' page, he doesn't put anything, just a blank page. On the footer of the website, he puts about him, but the detail of his information is not unavailable.

    The 'Clothing' page, is a page for people who look to buy his designs.

    And, the last page, 'Retailers', he just shows his shop that the viewer can visit and try his gowns designs.

    

    I opened his website on my phone to see the mobile view, and it's well organised.


    Overall, this second website is not give any detail information of his collections or even his personal information.

    To compare both website, I like the first website and the second one is a bit disappointing because the first one, Tolli can explain her website really clear and she gives all the information details about her collections of her works/designs, but Zunino's website is not, he not give any detail for his work/collection, he just provides pictures for viewer to look at it. Zunino also not give any information about himself, so we don't know anything about him. Tolli's website has an exciting elements on her website, from the consistency fonts that correlated to her concept, white and minimalistic.

    This is an excellent experience to look the other people website, so I can learn how to make a good website for my project in this class to look exciting and engaging.
