Here, I will begin to research about the artists that inspired me for this project, especially the city costume. I am going to talk about Roberto Cavalli, Iris Van Herpen, and Alexander McQueen. These designers are creating authentic designs that are eccentric, also the designs are suitable for the city costume design to make the fashion designs look exciting instead of traditional and boring.

Roberto Cavalli is a fashion designer from Italy. He is famous of animal prints clothing, especially the dress and his works claimed the biopic treatment (Ritman, 2021). ""Roberto Cavalli is a fashion icon who’s incredible life cannot be replicated", said Iervolino" (Ritman, 2021). Cavalli is focus on designing for woman with the extravagant, incredible garments, distinctive glamour; it makes the style of Cavalli (Krieger, n.d.). According to Krieger (n.d.) that Cavalli began making patchworks of many various of materials after developing and patenting a ground breaking method of printing on leather. He showed his methods in Paris, he received contracts from famous brands, such as Pierre Cardin and Hermès (Krieger, n.d.). Krieger (n.d.) mentions that after he debuted patterned denim, brocade, intarsia leathers, and eccentric designs collections, he decided to open his own boutique in1972, Saint-Tropez.
Roberto Cavalli 2007
This is Cavalli's famous design, that is made on 2007. This dress not really have name, but inspired by butterfly. According to King of Chelsea (2021) that "...wild designs have been inspired by animals of Africa, South America and Asia". He has interest to exotic animals, especially African animal, especially the shapes and the textures (King of Chelsea, 2021). Victoria & Albert Museum (2015) says that this dress is made chiffon that reaches until the floor; it is printed with a symmetrical striped design; and the pattern contains periodic prints of the designer's signature. In addition, this dress is ready to wear production (Victoria & Albert Museum, 2015). Moreover, this designer is inspired me because of the designs for the project is inspired by the animal of the Connecticut symbols; his interest to the animals and he put it on his design and become his branding of style; he makes me inspired that animal pattern can produce a beautiful design for an outfit.

Iris Van Herspen is a Dutch fashion designer who combines fashion with technology and nature. Nast (2022) mentions that Herpen "....uses unconventional materials and technology and combines them with traditional couture-making techniques to create alien-like, unsettling yet beautiful designs." According to Nast (2022), her garments have movement even if they are "sculptured". In 2007, she was shaking the fashion industry after she opened her own company, and she proved that her work would never die.

Herpen makes sure that her designs will have the pillars of her vision, including architecture, dance, art, and nature (Iris van Herpen, 2011). According to Iris van Herpen (2011), every garment is rooted in an organic presence that is inspired by the fluidity and lightness of textures. Iris van Herpen (2011) mentions that her designs are inspired by the raging from cymatics to synesthesia, the Maison collection; also, her inspiration came from lucid dreaming, brain neurons, and sensory marine life. Her designs have pushed the boundaries of how to perceive and test the rules of physics (Iris van Herpen, 2011). The Maison demonstrates how art expression in fashion may affect individuals (Iris van Herpen, 2011). Additionally, Herpen designs "....stands for slow fashion, designing in a thoughtful and collaborative manner, utilising approaches that are state-of-the-art, and paving the way for multi-disciplinary designs that extend the imagination." (Iris van Herpen, 2011). Moreover, her designs are impressive; I like her designs because they are not common and unique; she can balance architecture, science, and art in one design and make it fantastical. My design will also contain fantasy and 3D pop-ups, so her works motivate me to create exciting designs which are out of the box.
Alexander McQueen is a fashion designer from London, United Kingdom. According to Victoria and Albert Museum (2017) he had been working as a pattern cutter for Japanese avant-garde designer, Koji Tatsuno in London, then he moved to Milan and joined Italian designer, Romeo Gigli. He returned to London to finish his MA in Fashion Design at Central Saint Martins (Victoria and Albert Museum, 2017). McQueen was an expert tailor in the craft of fashion design, which made him receive a lot of press attention for his graduation collection (Victoria and Albert Museum, 2017). Moreover, in 1992, he established his own label; in 1996, he succeeded in becoming a Givenchy head designer. Also, his company was acquired by the Gucci Group in 2000, and in 2001, his contract with Givenchy ended (Victoria and Albert Museum, 2017).
The dress gives a gothic, romantic, savage, and naturism mood to his design (The Artist Bestiary, 2013). The Artist Bestiary (2013) mentions that McQueen says in the exhibition catalogue ""I have always loved the mechanics of nature and to a greater or lesser extent my work is always informed by that."" It means that he used animals as his inspiration because he has an interest in animals. This dress is named after the spring/summer 2001 collection. Voss is a dress that includes such hawks as a headpiece and a floor-length skirt covered in birds and feathers (Kennedy, 2023). Moreover, I like the dress because it is unique and fantastical. It connects the design I will make for the city costume; it makes this dress suitable as my inspiration to make my insight wider.
Furthermore, these three designers were very helpful to me in developing the design for the city costume that should be unique and show the city's symbols. Then, the concept of the design that I will make is animals, and nature is oneness since the city is broken down because of the fire, I want the dress to bloom again, and the sense that the city will be beautiful and shining again. Therefore, I am likely to create designs that incorporate nature and animals.
