Welcome Post - Term 3

Hello, welcome again to my blog. Jesslyn is back!! Here, I want to share about what I am looking forward to for this term, including what I want to improve and the new skills that I want to explore to make the project turn out outstanding.

Something that I want to improve from the last term project for this term to become better is the consistency of my blog update and the sewing skill. I want to make the sew of the clothes better and tidier, so the clothes will be seen much better.

Also, I want to develop new skills to achieve an excellent quality of the project are the sewing skills, pattern making (or buy), and measuring the body properly. Moreover, what I am looking forward to for this term, I want to create something that is out of my comfort zone, which is creating school uniform and national clothes. Even though, it is heard a simple thing to do and the style is usually boring, but I am looking forward to create something exciting. Additionally, I likely to create clothes with the different types of sew that I have learned last term during induction, so I can make a new things more creative.

Furthermore, I am likely to explore school uniforms in the USA because one of my projects is making school uniforms. In addition, in the USA, public schools usually do not have uniforms for their students (Glavin, 2017). However, it is different from private schools in the USA; they have school uniforms for their students, and the school logo is also shown on the uniforms (Glavin, 2017). According to Ourkids.net (2019), wearing school uniforms allows students to focus more on their studies than the style they use for a day in school, creates less stress in choosing daily attire, and more. Washington Episcopal School (n.d.) says they use long/short sleeves, white collared buttons, plaid skirts (school identity plaid pattern's colour) or chino pants, blazers, and ties.

I will make a uniform for the project, and this information is useful in giving me insight into the design that I am going to make. Also, because public schools in the USA do not oblige students to wear school uniforms, the design of the school uniforms that I will make is addressed to private schools.

Moreover, I am eager to learn about the pattern-cutting process for making pleated skirts/skorts, button-up shirts, and suits. I would likely learn from the video that I can find on YouTube about the pattern-cutting that might be useful for my project.

I am excited to make the designs and outfit/s for this project.

  1. Good introduction of what you would like to do this term - it would be goo to add a little research on pattern cutting, sewing skils or perhaps the school uniform to add to this.
